Food Distribution to Nakivale Refugee LGBTQIA Community
Last Hope Refugee Association, in partnership with Men Of The Night Uganda, organized a food distribution for Nakivale’s LGBTQIA refugee community. This initiative aimed to provide essential food aid to those in need.
The distribution took place at Nakivale Refugee Camp, benefiting 60 LGBTQIA refugees. Food packages contained staple items such as:
1. Rice, 2. Beans, 3. Oil, 4. Spices, 5. Sugar
This activity improved food security and well-being for Nakivale’s LGBTQIA refugee community. We thank Men Of The Night Uganda for their invaluable support and partnership.

Documenting
Training on Documenting Human Rights Abuses and Personal/Physical Security for Transgender Refugees at Nakivale Refugee Camp, Uganda
From December 17-19, Last Hope Refugee Association conducted a vital training for 20 transgender refugees at Nakivale Refugee Camp in Uganda. This activity, supported by the International Trans Fund, aimed to enhance the capacity of transgender refugees to document human rights abuses and improve their personal and physical security.
Context
Transgender refugees face unique challenges in refugee camps, including discrimination, violence and exclusion. It is crucial to provide them with the tools and knowledge to defend their rights and ensure their safety.
Objectives
1. Enhance the capacity of transgender refugees to document human rights abuses.
2. Improve their personal and physical security.
3. Promote awareness and understanding of transgender refugees’ rights.
Training Content
1. Introduction to human rights and refugee protection.
2. Techniques for documenting human rights abuses.
3. Personal and physical security.
4. Strategies for defending against violence and discrimination.
Impact
1. Participants acquired knowledge and skills to defend their rights.
2. They are better equipped to face violence and discrimination.
3. The training empowered and boosted their confidence.
Conclusion
This training was a significant step in promoting the rights and security of transgender refugees at Nakivale Refugee Camp. We thank the International Trans Fund for their support and commit to continuing our work to protect and defend the rights of transgender refugees.
Last Hope Refugee Association Promotes Equal Healthcare Access for LGBTIQ Refugees in Uganda
Nakivale Camp, Uganda – Today, Last Hope Refugee Association hosted a healthcare advocacy event to promote equal access to healthcare services for LGBTIQ refugees. The event, supported by UHAI-EASHRI, brought together healthcare professionals and refugee advocates to address the unique health challenges faced by LGBTIQ refugees in Uganda.
Background: LGBTIQ refugees in Uganda often face significant barriers in accessing healthcare services. This advocacy event aims to bridge this gap and ensure equal access to medical care.
