Last Hope Refugee Association (LHRA) is a non-profit organization that promotes and protects the human rights of Transgender refugees and asylum seekers and access to justice. It was established on May 20, 2020 in Uganda in a social context marked by violence, criminalization of homosexuality, discrimination and disregard for the human rights of LGBTQIA people in Uganda.

Our Mission
LHRA aims to provide refuge, support, and the advocacy for Transgender refugees and asylum seekers, promoting their well-being, safety, and self-sufficiency.
Our Vision
Invest more to build a world of justice, human rights, respect and tolerance for Transgender Refugees.
Our Objectives
1. Provide shelter, food, and medical care to Transgender refugees.
2. Offer psychosocial support, counseling, and trauma rehabilitation.
3. Advocate for refugees’ rights, dignity, and protection.
4. Foster community integration and social cohesion.
5. Support economic empowerment through education, skills training, and livelihood programs.
Our Activities
1. Case management and referral services.
2. Shelter and accommodation support.
3. Food assistance and nutrition programs.
4. Medical and mental health services.
5. Community outreach and sensitization.
6. Capacity-building workshops and training Empowerment for self resilience.
7. Advocacy and policy engagement.
8. Supporting Transgender refugee sex workers with IGA (income generating activities) projects.
9. Expand the activities of the Last Hope for Refugees Association (LHRA) to other refugee camps in Uganda and Africa.
10. Create a shelter for homeless transgender refugees and those abandoned by their families and set up a reintegration program.
11. Legal and judicial assistance to sexual minorities in difficulty.
12. Prevention of HIV/AIDS, STIs and awareness on HIV/AIDS, providing a specialized listening center on HIV/AIDS and reproductive health for Transgender people.
Focus: Transgender refugees and asylum seekers, with an emphasis on vulnerable individuals, including those living with HIV/AIDS.
